Mowalola Spring/Summer 2027: After Two Years, a Sharper Language of Nightlife

Mowalola Ogunlesi’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection, The Hunger, returns to the label’s after-dark wardrobe with a notably concentrated approach to shape. Vogue records it as her first runway show in two years, presented in Westminster on September 18, 2026. The collection photographs bring the clothes into close focus: narrow dresses, compact separates and glossy tailoring rely on line and surface to establish their character.

One Silhouette, Several Surfaces

The opening sequence of collection images repeats a narrow dress in red, blue and a muted metallic tone. A sheer upper section meets a smoother skirt through a contrasting band at the waist. Because the shape stays relatively consistent, the change in colour and reflection becomes more apparent. Each version suggests a different mood without needing an entirely different construction.

Longer dresses extend that same interest in the body’s outline. Dark blue and brown surfaces catch the light across a close-fitting torso before continuing into a longer skirt. Openings at the front can break the line without destroying its continuity. The clothes look deliberate from a distance, then become more complicated as the eye follows the joins.

Tailoring After Dark

The suits and trousers supply a different kind of control. Glossy jackets and straight legs recall familiar formal clothing, but reflective surfaces and open styling change their attitude. A shirt and tie can appear beside an exposed waist or a much shorter lower half. The wardrobe moves between recognisable workwear and evening dressing without asking the two to remain separate.

Dark red, brown and black make those combinations feel related, while flashes of blue and a pale printed suit introduce a stronger interruption. The palette is not uniformly sombre. Its changes are often concentrated enough to sharpen the silhouette rather than compete with it.

The Importance of an Edge

Several outfits are defined by what happens at a garment’s boundary: a very low waist, an abrupt hem, a narrow strap or an opening that leaves the side of the torso visible. These are construction decisions as much as styling gestures. They determine where the eye stops and where it continues across the body.

The final group of images makes surface more emphatic. Reflective fragments, dark transparent layers and highly polished pieces create a less continuous outline than the earlier dresses. Yet the collection remains coherent because its shapes are still easy to read. A long dress, a short skirt or a tailored jacket supplies the base for the more unstable material above it.

The Hunger is strongest when that balance holds: a clear silhouette allows the surface and the styling to become more assertive. The label’s nightlife identity remains visible, but the collection makes its case through the precision of individual clothes as much as through the atmosphere around them.
