Fall/Winter 2026: Six Ideas in Proportion, Colour and Texture
Fall/Winter 2026 can be read through the relationship between proportion, colour and surface. These six examples come from the collection imagery of A.W.A.K.E. Mode, 6397 and Lafayette 148 New York. They offer a focused visual selection, rather than a ranking or a claim that every autumn runway followed the same direction.
1. A Defined Waist Within a Larger Coat
A.W.A.K.E. Mode gives a dark coat a firm centre through its belt, then allows the lower half to spread. The waist remains clear even as the garment occupies more space around the legs.

2. A Change of Weight at the Hem
Blue jeans meet a dense brown trim at the lower leg beneath a dark knitted upper half. The change of texture pulls attention downwards, making the base of the outfit as emphatic as its shoulders.

3. Colour Carried Through Layers
6397 places a purple outer layer above deeper, closely related colours. Several garments remain visible at once. Their different surfaces create depth without requiring a dramatic change in the overall outline.

4. The Hooded Top Over a Longer Skirt
A yellow hooded top meets a darker red skirt in another 6397 image. The change in colour keeps the two lengths distinct, while the longer lower half changes the balance of the familiar casual upper layer.

5. Pattern Against a Quieter Surface
Lafayette 148 New York pairs a checked upper layer with a broad, plain skirt in related brown tones. A belt marks the centre. The pattern supplies detail while the lower volume gives the outfit its shape.

6. A Bright Cuff Inside a Darker Layer
A dark, softly reflective overshirt opens onto a bright pink cuff in the second Lafayette 148 image. The small area of colour changes the whole combination without competing with the larger outer shape.

How to Use the Relationships
The useful starting point is a relationship rather than a shopping list. A belt can reorganise a larger garment; a visible cuff can add contrast; a longer skirt can change how a casual top is read. These decisions work differently across wardrobes, so the photographs are most useful as examples of proportion and styling, with room for individual interpretation.
