Countryside Wedding: Carolina and Luciano

WEDDINGG – How did you meet, and how did the marriage proposal happen?

Carolina – We met at my birthday celebration in 2010, at Studio SP. I was having my party on the same day as a Miranda Kassin concert, and Luciano had gone there with friends to watch the show.

He proposed when we were already living together. He played the song “MUITO,” by Caetano Veloso, sung with Nina Becker, and I said yes. We played that same song while exchanging our wedding rings.

WEDDINGG – What was it like planning the wedding, dealing with doubts and expectations, and hiring the professionals?

Carolina – I have a friend who has produced many weddings. As soon as she heard I was getting married, she recommended Tamara, from Coordinare Eventos, to be my wedding planner. At the time, I had no idea just how indispensable Tamara would be to the planning and organization. She made everything much calmer.

At first, we planned to marry in São Paulo, and Tamara and I researched several suppliers. Later, we decided on Rio de Janeiro, so much of the preparation happened by email and phone. We left only the main decisions to be handled in person there.

WEDDINGG – How did you feel on your wedding day before everything began, and what did you think when you heard your entrance music with the doors still closed?

I was anxious, with a dry throat, but I thought everything looked beautiful and was just as I had planned. I got ready at the ceremony and reception venue, and from where I was I could see the decorations being completed and guests arriving, including the groom. It was lovely to take part in the beginning of the celebration while staying hidden.

When the entrance music started and I was in position, I wasn't thinking about much except making sure I entered at the right moment, when Caetano began to sing “Você é linda...” I was so focused and nervous that I forgot my bouquet! The doors opened, I walked out, everyone stood to look at me, and suddenly my aunt called out, “The bouquet!” It was hilarious. I did a little dance at the top until Tamara's hand appeared with the bouquet, and then I went down the stairs to meet my father. Everyone who saw it had a good laugh, and I relaxed too.

WEDDINGG – What was it like experiencing the ceremony and reception?

It was magical. The Buddhist ceremony, the setting, the view over Guanabara Bay and the ribbons flying in the breeze were all deeply moving. It was certainly a very special day, not only for us but for everyone who was there.

WEDDINGG – What advice would you give another bride?

Hire a wedding planner and, yes, have your wedding filmed!
