At Missoni's Spring/Summer 2027 show in Milan on September 23, Alberto Caliri made layered dressing feel personal rather than prescribed. The collection appeared on the official womenswear calendar at 4 p.m.; Vogue places the presentation in the cloisters of San Simpliciano. Against that architectural backdrop, the creative director proposed a wardrobe whose interest came from the meeting of shapes, textures and accessories, with room for the wearer to rearrange the result.

The opening look, seen in Missoni's official runway photography, established that argument with a long, translucent black-and-white dress. Jagged bands interrupted horizontal stripes, making the surface seem to stretch and contract even in a still photograph. A tie sat low across the hips, while long pendants, a patterned brimmed hat and small bags added separate points of interest. Dark socks worn with sandals grounded the delicate fabric. The combination gave a familiar graphic motif a pleasantly untidy setting.
Other early looks explored how pale clothes could carry considerable visual density. Look three paired a loose white tank and trousers with a speckled knit tied around the waist, a broad-brimmed grey hat and an oversized, softly slouching bag. Look four changed the proportion: a long cream-and-sand coat opened over a textured top and very short pale shorts. Length and exposure did much of the work, allowing the fabrics to remain understated without making the silhouette anonymous.

Pattern mixing became particularly clear in look six. A loose, lace-up, poncho-like layer carried narrow vertical markings over a brown-and-white striped top, with a small scarf knotted at the neck. The opposing directions made the outfit lively without requiring a bright colour clash. Look seven softened the same principle through a draped pale top, a striped underlayer and broad, shimmering trousers. Jewellery and the shoulder bag supplied further texture, but the silhouette still left space around the body.
Look eight offered a sharper contrast between surface and volume. A fitted, tie-front top glittered in muted yellow and grey above brown balloon trousers gathered at the ankles. A striped layer showed beneath it, and a pale blue hat kept the outfit from reading as conventional eveningwear. Here, sparkle worked as one ingredient in everyday dressing rather than as a signal to become formal.

Missoni's own collection notes place movement and instinct at the centre of the season, describing loosened geometric patterns and a palette extending from sandy neutrals and dusty pink to brighter colour and metallic accents. The inspected opening looks make that intention tangible: hems, sleeves and accessories establish several overlapping rhythms instead of directing attention to a single immaculate line.
Caliri's strongest proposition is the permission to combine. The clothes retain enough graphic identity to register as Missoni, yet their proportions invite different relationships between pieces. Summer dressing emerges as a process of adjustment, with the decorative richness carried through layers that look ready to be loosened, removed or worn another way.
