Ermanno Scervino SS27: Volume Gives Way to Surface

A bright red, gathered lower silhouette makes a forceful first impression in the opening photograph of Ermanno Scervino’s Spring/Summer 2027 gallery. Above it, a pale blue shirt has a broad white front panel, large white cuffs and an open neckline. A white laced detail is visible at the centre of the waist. The shirt supplies straight lines; the red fabric gathers into rounded folds beneath them.
The balance is unusually compact. The short red volume projects to the sides, leaving the legs uninterrupted, while a long pendant extends down the open shirt front. Patterned ankle-strap shoes add another small area of texture. There is already plenty happening, but the separation of blue, white and red keeps each element legible.
That emphatic use of shape is only one register in the three official photographs considered here. Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana identifies the collection as womenswear SS27 and lists its Milan show on September 26, 2026. Further images allow the eye to move from conspicuous volume to quieter distinctions of surface.
In one, a gold-toned open-knit collared top is tucked into wide, pale tan trousers. Decorative floral work runs down the legs near the outer edges, while a broad brown waist section is tied with thin cords. A large brown shoulder bag repeats the warm colour family. The outfit is relatively close in tone from head to foot, so the differences between open knit, smoother fabric and raised decoration do more of the work.
The trousers also shift where ornament sits. Their decoration follows the length of the leg rather than forming an all-over field. The wide cut gives those vertical areas room, and the plain centre prevents the detail from swallowing the shape of the trousers.
A brown ensemble offers a still narrower silhouette. Fine vertical lines run through a thin-strapped top and a below-knee skirt, with darker lace-like bands marking the neckline, the top’s lower edge and the skirt’s hem. A small front tie and compact handbag keep the scale of the accessories modest.
Seen together, these photographs suggest a collection comfortable with both expansion and restraint. The red folds announce themselves immediately; the tan trousers ask for a closer look along their edges; the brown separates depend on subtle changes within one colour. Each approach gives decoration a different relationship to the body.
