Stine Goya Copenhagen Spring/Summer 2027: The Creative Ferment of 1913

Stine Goya returned to the Copenhagen Fashion Week runway in August 2026 with a Spring/Summer 2027 collection inspired by the cultural energy of 1913. The designer drew on Florian Illies’s book The Year Before the Storm, connecting the sense of invention of the prewar European avant-garde to a period of transformation in contemporary culture.
The Collection and Its Design
The collection retained Goya’s recognizable colour and floral vocabulary but pushed it towards a less predictable kind of glamour. Decorative cartouches and intense prints appeared alongside glittering, beaded pieces. Ribbon-laced Dr Martens boots and loose-backed crystal bras complicated the brand’s familiar sweetness with sharper styling. The result was a wardrobe that remained exuberant while suggesting more confidence in mixed references.
The Runway or Presentation
The audience was seated in concentric circles so that every guest could experience a front-row relationship to the models. A performance by an inline skater and music connected with the Ballets Russes introduced movement into the idea of creative revolution. The runway’s circular progression worked like a clock, reinforcing the show’s preoccupation with time.
Why It Matters
Goya’s return was significant for a fashion week celebrating its twentieth anniversary. The collection showed a designer revisiting a familiar voice through a new historical lens rather than merely replaying established house codes.

Before: Stine Goya’s Original Spring/Summer 2027 Collection
On her return to the Copenhagen Fashion Week runway in August 2026, Stine Goya used Before to imagine a moment of extraordinary cultural exchange. Her reading of Florian Illies' account of the year 1913 offered a starting point for a season shaped by artistic energy, unease and the sense that Europe stood at the edge of change. Instead of translating history into costume, she let those ideas inform the collection's print and styling vocabulary.
The house's official show notes describe expressionist references, emotionally charged landscapes, oversized florals and sculptural silhouettes. Draped silk scarves and recurrent frame motifs gave each look a sense of movement and unsettled composition. The result was recognizably Stine Goya in colour and optimism but less interested in tidy prettiness than earlier collections.
The collection also operated as an act of contemporary community. In the designer's account, the parallel between 1913 and 2026 lies in artists confronting uncertainty and reshaping their ability to imagine alternatives.
