Marie Adam-Leenaerdt Spring/Summer 2027: Everyday Codes, Reframed

Marie Adam-Leenaerdt presented Spring/Summer 2027 in Paris on 29 September 2026. The collection takes everyday wardrobe codes and shifts them through proportion, construction and subtle visual disruption.

Silhouette and construction
Familiar garments are stretched, cropped, layered or redirected so that function and silhouette are reconsidered at the same time. The changes are precise rather than theatrical, giving the runway a quiet conceptual tension.

Spring/Summer 2027 direction
Spring/Summer 2027 shows the designer working through ordinary clothing with close attention to structure. The result is understated, intelligent and deliberately off-center.

Dressing Well Without an Occasion
For Spring/Summer 2027, Marie Adam-Leenaerdt proposed that a woman should not need a gala or invitation to dress with imagination. Her September Paris presentation transformed a dimly lit space into a strangely formal supermarket, with refrigeration displays and groceries in a setting that ordinarily asks for practicality above all. The staging was a challenge to a familiar social rule: why should an elaborate look be reserved for a special event?
A Working Wardrobe with Deliberate Surprises
The clothes answered through hybrid shapes. A skirt could conceal balloon shorts; black lace could suggest an apron; a quilted outer layer could borrow volume from a shopping bag. These were neither pure costume nor an exercise in disguise. Adam-Leenaerdt made everyday garments operate in two registers simultaneously: useful enough to be worn, but strange enough to interrupt expectations.
Structural Wit in the Details
Some silhouettes were held away from the body through discreet engineering. A circular miniskirt revolved around the hips, while shorts appeared to be skirts until the wearer moved. Skirt-trousers and dresses attached to bodysuits multiplied possible readings of a single outfit. Such alterations reflect a distinctly Belgian interest in making the normal feel off balance through precise construction rather than loud ornament.
Taffeta and the Possibility of Everyday Drama
Taffeta shades associated with formal parties appeared in garments that were deliberately less ceremonial. Across light chiffon, practical outerwear and darker lace, the designer used material and construction to argue that the distinction between day and evening clothes is largely a social arrangement. The show's red fabric finale, almost a human red carpet, brought the idea full circle: the occasion can be created by the person wearing the clothes.
