New Museum Opens Its Fall 2026 Season With Arthur Jafa, Diego Marcon and Bowery History
The New Museum opened its fall 2026 exhibition season on September 24 with a programme connecting major artist presentations to the history and architecture of its Bowery home.
A broad fall slate

The museum describes its Arthur Jafa presentation as the largest survey of the artist’s work to date. The programme also includes Diego Marcon’s first New York solo museum exhibition, a project tracing roughly 400 years of Bowery cultural history, and a site-specific Ho Tzu Nyen commission for the glass-front elevators.

Context as a curatorial thread

The season moves between global contemporary practice and the immediate neighbourhood around the museum. That combination gives the programme a local anchor while expanding into film, moving image and installation.

Opening day also began a wider public programme of talks, screenings and community activities.

Editorial note: opening-day and exhibition details verified through the New Museum’s official September 22 press release.
