Pop star Britney Spears and model and actor Sam Asghari met in 2016 while filming the music video for “Slumber Party.” A few months later they reconnected, began dating and soon became inseparable.
When he proposed, Sam gave Britney a solitaire diamond ring engraved with the word “Lioness,” his affectionate nickname for her. Britney Spears and Sam Asghari announced their engagement in September 2021, exactly two months before the legal conservatorship controlled by her father was terminated.
The international pop princess and her partner married on June 9, 2022, in an intimate and enchanting ceremony held at the singer’s home in Los Angeles. The couple hired celebrity event producer Jeffrey Best of Best Events to plan the wedding.
According to People, the ceremony was brief, lasting around ten minutes, and welcomed approximately 60 guests. Famous friends included Madonna, Paris Hilton, Kathy Hilton and Drew Barrymore. Sean Preston, then 16, and Jayden James, 15, Britney’s sons with Kevin Federline, were not present. An unexpected visitor also attempted to enter the celebration: Jason Alexander, Britney’s first husband. He streamed part of the incident on Instagram before security intervened. Britney walked down the aisle alone to Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”

During the celebration, Britney changed outfits four times. The gown chosen for the vows contained several references to 1990s bridal style and was created especially for her by longtime friend Donatella Versace. The ivory silk design featured an off-the-shoulder neckline, a fitted, straight silhouette, a long train and a deep slit. She completed the look with tulle gloves, a matching choker with a jeweled brooch, round earrings, a white-gold heart-shaped necklace and an oval diamond bracelet. A 4.5-metre veil covered her loose hairstyle. Later, Britney chose shorter, more sensual looks for dancing: a black blazer dress, a fitted red dress with a V neckline and fringed shoulders, and another red blazer-inspired dress for the end of the party.
Sam wore a classic, custom-made black tuxedo by Versace. He paired it with patent-leather shoes and no socks, creating a relaxed yet elegant look.
Britney chose a classic diamond band and a second ring featuring marquise-cut stones, both designed by Stephanie Gottlieb to complement her engagement ring. Sam selected a platinum band with a brushed centre and polished edges.
In a true fairytale entrance, Britney arrived in a beautiful carriage decorated with roses and pulled by a white horse whose hooves had been painted gold.
The décor featured roses across the altar backdrop, at the entrance and along the aisle in tall arrangements. Pink, white, cream and gold formed the palette selected for the day.
DJ Albert provided the soundtrack, playing remixed versions of Britney’s own songs, including “Toxic,” alongside tracks associated with special guests, such as Madonna’s “Like a Virgin.”
At the end of the celebration, the couple left in a white Rolls-Royce decorated with roses and the words “Just Married.” Guests held illuminated wands that created a sparkling silver send-off.
It was a wedding unmistakably à la Britney: theatrical, romantic, glamorous and deeply personal.
