An English Garden Inside the Natural History Museum

Lavender Green Flowers was asked to bring a whimsical English-garden feeling into London's Natural History Museum for a wedding that needed to feel elegant, impressive and deliberately different. The monumental architecture of the museum became the frame for soft, airy florals and playful sculptural elements.

A Rapid Transformation

The official project page notes that the venue was transformed from a daytime visitor attraction into the wedding setting in roughly an hour and a half. That operational constraint makes the project especially notable: every floral and decorative move had to be conceived for speed, scale and visual impact.

A Circular Bar and Giant Poppies

A circular bar became a focal point for the evening reception, with giant paper poppies rising from its center and florals growing around the base. The intervention introduced a surreal botanical note while responding to the dramatic proportions of the hall.

Repurposing Ceremony Florals

A broken arch and meadow-style aisle flowers from the ceremony were moved from Fossil Way to Hintze Hall, where they framed the staircase and a string quartet. The reuse created continuity between ceremony and dinner while maximizing the impact of the floral investment.

Airy Tablescapes

Tables combined mixed-height candles with Ammi Majus, Japanese anemones, roses, scabious, dahlias and Alchemilla mollis. Taller tree-like designs in fluted vases included upside-down roses suspended above guests, adding movement and height without closing the room visually.
