St. Regis Hong Kong by André Fu Studio: A Layered Portrait of Wan Chai
Hong Kong’s streets, mansions and neighbourhood history inform a hotel interior in Wan Chai.
A hotel rooted in Wan Chai
André Fu Studio’s 2019 interiors for St. Regis Hong Kong place the city’s history within a contemporary hotel setting. Located in Wan Chai, the project draws on the neighbourhood’s streets and buildings as well as Fu’s personal memories.

Local references, layered through the hotel
The studio identifies the gas lamps of Duddell’s Street, columns from the old Wan Chai police station and the panelling of traditional Hong Kong mansions as design references. These details connect the hotel’s spaces with a wider urban story.

From the public rooms to the guest room
The official photographs move from a tall, dramatically lit public interior to a guest room, a stone bathroom and a mural-lined bar. Framed panels, lantern-like lights and upholstered seating carry a consistent atmosphere across these different settings.
