Neithan Herbert SS27: Volume Above the Waist
Neithan Herbert gives the sleeve considerable room in the official Spring/Summer 2027 photographs. Fabric expands around the arms before narrowing into long cuffs, while the lower half of the outfit follows a more vertical line. The waist becomes the point where those two proportions meet, sometimes covered by a broad sash and sometimes left open.

An ivory ensemble makes that construction especially clear. Its high-necked, long-sleeved blouse gathers through the front and expands around the lower arms. Long fitted cuffs contain the fullness. Below, a broad pale band sits across the hips, above a layered, flowing lower silhouette with a sheer section revealing the leg. A small gold-toned oval bag provides a hard, reflective contrast to the soft fabric.

The outfit is close in colour from top to bottom, so its boundaries are established by density and shape. The cuffs look compact beside the sleeves; the broad hip band interrupts the long folds. The little bag also creates a separate, easily read form within an otherwise fluid arrangement.

A very pale pink outfit opens those relationships up. The cropped top gathers at a high neck, with exposed shoulders and large sleeves ending in broad cuffs. Its lower edge stops above the waist. A long skirt gathers at one hip, sending diagonal folds across the front and opening over one leg. A burgundy shoe, visibly gathered across its upper, adds a small patch of dark colour.

Here, gathering performs two different jobs. Around the top, it creates a rounded volume; at the hip, it pulls the skirt towards one side. The bare midriff leaves a clear interval between those shapes. That pause prevents the plentiful folds from becoming a single, uninterrupted mass.

A black combination makes the separation sharper. A cropped, high-necked blouse carries rounded sleeves above a long, semi-sheer skirt. Fine gold-toned chains and small hanging ornaments trace the exposed waist. Their scale is delicate beside the breadth of the sleeves, and their reflective points draw attention to the space between the garments.

These are selected images from the official gallery for the collection that Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana lists as womenswear SS27, with a September 26, 2026 show in Milan. They reveal a focused approach to proportion: volume is concentrated around the upper body, while gathered fabric and small metallic details give the waist a precise role in organising the silhouette.
