Ben Brown Fine Arts Hong Kong by André Fu Studio: Connected Spaces for Art
André Fu Studio’s 2009 gallery inside Hong Kong’s Pedder Building, documented during Heinz Mack’s 2017 exhibition.
A gallery inside the Pedder Building
André Fu Studio designed Ben Brown Fine Arts’ permanent Hong Kong gallery in the Pedder Building in 2009. A four-metre ceiling and three connected sections give the interior a sequence of distinct viewing spaces.

Proportion and material
The plan offers changing angles onto the art, while bamboo flooring brings warmth to the restrained setting. White walls and precisely framed openings keep attention on scale, movement and the relationships between rooms.

The space in use
These photographs document Heinz Mack: Structures at the Pedder Building gallery in 2017. They show the interior accommodating abstract paintings and reliefs, with open floor areas and carefully directed light supporting the experience of looking.
