A$AP Rocky Frames AWGE Spring 2027 Around Anti-War Global Economics
A$AP Rocky’s AWGE Spring/Summer 2027 collection takes its title, Anti-War Global Economics, as a starting point for clothing that mixes military references with the signs of ordinary working life. Vogue’s interview identifies the season’s anti-war theme. The runway images give that proposition a deliberately unsettled form: uniforms, office dressing, sportswear and improvised layers appear together rather than resolving into a single polished code.
The Uniform, Rearranged
Khaki, olive and dark blue provide a familiar base. Ties and shirts sit beside flight-jacket shapes, cargo pockets and long coats, but the combinations repeatedly alter the expected scale. A large upper layer may be balanced by a very short lower half, or a compact jacket can sit above trousers with far more room. The reference to a uniform remains visible while its order is disturbed.
Waists are especially active. Pouches, belts and layered fabric draw attention to the middle of the body, sometimes making the accessories look like a second garment. In one outfit, a skirt-like khaki panel crosses dark shorts; in another, a loose shirt and tie emerge above a much heavier belt arrangement. The details encourage the viewer to read the outfit in parts.
Office Clothes and Practical Objects
Tailoring introduces a different kind of authority. A dark suit with a shirt and tie can look conventional at first, until its loose proportion or surrounding styling changes the impression. Grey and purple layers, short skirts and tall boots keep interrupting that formality. The collection moves between the office, the street and the parade ground without treating any one of them as a stable identity.
The props and accessories make that ambiguity more explicit. A small wheeled shopping trolley appears beneath a long, dark outer layer, bringing an ordinary urban object onto the runway. Bags hang from hands or across the hip, while gloves and hats alter the outline at the ends of the body. These objects add narrative weight without requiring every garment to carry a graphic message.
Pattern and Interruption
Camouflage-like surfaces appear in both dark and high-contrast versions. Some outfits stretch the pattern across a whole body; others use it as one layer among quieter pieces. Bright green, red and orange details disturb the mostly subdued palette. A military-style jacket with rows of contrasting trim makes the uniform reference particularly legible, yet the short lower half changes its attitude.
The strongest visual idea is the friction between those recognisable signs. A tie suggests one institution, a cargo pocket another, and a wheeled trolley a more everyday economy. AWGE’s anti-war title frames the collection’s political intent; the clothes do their work through those collisions of scale, function and association.
