Venice is best discovered on foot and from the water. Start at Piazza San Marco, with the Basilica di San Marco, the Campanile and the Palazzo Ducale, then let yourself wander through the lanes, small squares and bridges that give the city its distinctive rhythm.

Canals, islands and neighborhoods

A vaporetto ride on the Grand Canal offers a privileged view of the palaces. The Rialto Bridge remains essential. To go further, explore Murano and its glassmaking, Burano and its colorful houses, as well as Cannaregio or Dorsoduro for a different atmosphere.

Take time to try cicchetti in the bacari and visit museums and small churches. Opening hours, tickets, access fees and rules can change, so consult official sources before departure.
