Sofia Miami Design District by Studio Munge: Flamingo Pink, Amethyst and Italian Glamour
Sofia Miami Design District was imagined by Studio Munge for INK Entertainment as a fashion-forward Italian restaurant in the heart of Miami's luxury retail district. The project treats dining as a form of performance, combining contemporary art, couture references and a deliberately saturated palette.
Arrival begins outdoors, where the terrace is conceived as a secret garden. Flamingo-pink lacquered pieces, teak furniture, soft patterned textiles and frilled umbrellas create a playful version of Miami glamour, while modernised peacock chairs reference the city's Deco history.

The indoor-outdoor bar is anchored by a custom light fixture made from twisting amethyst resin tubes. Studio Munge describes the piece as a crystalline couture choker; below it, an Enigma-marble bar and chrome stools upholstered in amethyst velvet and leather reinforce the fashion analogy.

Inside, the main dining room is organized around a floor pattern composed from five pink and white marbles. Mirrored columns and polished chrome cabinets multiply the colour and art, while nine handblown Barovier & Toso chandeliers from Murano add a more classical note overhead.

Art is part of the spatial composition. Works by artists including Marco Grassi and Mr Brainwash appear across the rooms, while recessed pink-leather niches frame portraits of Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren and Audrey Hepburn, turning smaller tables into intimate theatrical settings.

A semi-private dining room extends the same language with a custom Rosie Li chandelier and a curved glass cellar. The project uses reflection, colour and repeated curves to make the restaurant feel continuous even as each zone develops its own level of intimacy.

Sofia is intentionally exuberant. Rather than tempering the spectacle of the Miami Design District, Studio Munge amplifies it through flamingo pink, amethyst, Murano glass, marble and chrome, creating a restaurant whose visual identity is inseparable from its social atmosphere.
