RE RHEE Seoul Spring/Summer 2027 'The Essence of What Remains': Luxury in Memory
RE RHEE’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection gives familiar clothes an unsettled elegance. Trench coats, jackets, shirts and tailored trousers remain recognisable, but their surfaces are creased, their layers slightly displaced and their proportions deliberately relaxed. The brand’s official collection presentation names the season The Essence of What Remains. In the runway images, that idea finds a persuasive form in garments that seem to have acquired a history before reaching the catwalk.
Tailoring With Room to Move
An opening combination puts a long beige coat over a pale top and a narrow skirt, with dark hosiery and pointed shoes drawing the eye downwards. The coat is worn open, so its vertical line acts as a frame for the lighter layers beneath. Nearby, a knit is tied across the shoulders of a T-shirt and loose trousers. It is a familiar styling gesture, but the diagonal sleeves disturb the otherwise orderly outline.
Dark suits form a recurring anchor. Jackets hang loosely from the shoulder or open deeply at the chest, and trousers fall with enough ease to make the silhouette look mobile rather than rigid. Long necklaces, small brooches and exposed shirt fronts supply points of light. The balance depends on restraint: one conspicuous detail is often enough to interrupt a mostly dark outfit.
Drape, Shine and Uneven Edges
The softer pieces extend that sense of clothes settling around a body. A pale draped top gathers loosely at the neckline above a skirt with an irregular, falling edge. Elsewhere, scarf-like lengths trail from the waist, and lightweight dresses emerge beneath long coats. The hemlines do not always meet neatly; their small disagreements create movement within a subdued palette.
Shiny dark surfaces change the mood without abandoning the collection’s long line. A cropped jacket and exposed midriff sit above wide trousers in a reflective finish, while a strapless dress uses the same kind of sheen more continuously. These looks feel more nocturnal than the pale tailoring. Their folds catch the stage lighting, making texture and construction visible even where the colour remains almost black.
There are gentler interruptions too: washed-looking florals beneath a dark coat, muted green layers, pale blue tops and a white dress framed by a black jacket. Shirts appear pulled away from the body or extended beyond a jacket’s hem. The recurring effect is a wardrobe that has been adjusted through wearing, with its formal pieces made personal by an extra layer, an open fastening or an uneven length.
The Collection in Motion
The strongest idea is the continuity between those day and evening registers. A loose trouser, a long coat and a draped panel all preserve space around the body. Rather than relying on a dramatic final transformation, the collection keeps revisiting that relationship in different surfaces and proportions. Its luxury lies in the attention paid to how an ordinary garment can fall, crease and move.
