Pierre Yovanovitch: A Couture Sensibility for Architecture and Interiors

Pierre Yovanovitch's interiors are as carefully edited as couture, yet their impact comes from architecture rather than ornament alone. Volumes, light, tactility and the placement of contemporary art are treated as elements of a single composition, producing spaces that feel both intentionally designed and unexpectedly personal.

An unexpected route through fashion
Yovanovitch began his professional life at Pierre Cardin, working for the fashion house before deciding to follow his own interest in interior architecture. He founded his design practice in 2001 and built an international reputation through residential, hospitality and cultural projects.
The language of volume and proportion
His rooms often rely on precise relationships between large-scale forms and intimate details. Raw and refined surfaces sit together, while sculptural furniture provides a bridge between decorative craft and architecture. The effect is sophisticated without depending on recognizable luxury clichés.

Art as a living presence
An avid collector, Yovanovitch frequently commissions artists for specific places. The resulting works are not simply added once a room is complete; they enter the architecture's composition, bringing distinct voices and material languages into conversation with the setting.

Le Coucou and the invention of atmosphere
The mountain hotel Le Coucou in Méribel exemplifies the studio's ability to introduce color, custom furniture and unexpected motifs into an Alpine setting. Its warm materials and theatrical details create an identity particular to the site, rather than a generalized luxury-hotel aesthetic.

Collectible furniture and beyond
Pierre Yovanovitch Mobilier, launched in 2021, extends the practice into furniture and objects. Each work revisits the relationship between comfort, craftsmanship and sculptural form, reaffirming the studio's interest in the space between architecture and fine art.
