LOUISE by André Fu Studio: French Dining Through a Residential Hong Kong Lens
A fictional hostess and a collection of layered rooms shape a restaurant within a Hong Kong heritage property.
The home of an imagined hostess
For LOUISE, André Fu Studio transformed a two-storey heritage property in the gardens of Hong Kong’s PMQ. The 2019 project draws on an invented French expatriate hostess, imagining rooms that have accumulated memories, objects and character over time.

Two distinct personalities
The design contrasts a relaxed ground-floor Parlour with an inviting, ivory-toned Dining Room. This change of mood gives the restaurant different settings while keeping the domestic idea at the centre of the experience.

A collected interior
The official photographs show a green marble bar, orange stools, botanical imagery and patterned upholstery. Cane chairs, framed pictures and layered lighting make the rooms feel collected rather than uniform, expressing the personality behind the fictional maison.
