Adare Manor by David Collins Studio: The Carriage House, Tack Bar and Wine Cellar in Ireland
At Adare Manor in County Limerick, David Collins Studio developed three connected hospitality spaces — The Carriage House, the Tack Bar and the Wine Cellar — as a contemporary counterpart to the estate's Gothic architecture. Completed in 2018, the project translates the atmosphere of a traditional golf clubhouse into a more refined, all-day destination.
The Carriage House begins with a double-height lobby, where painted panelling and arboreal artwork introduce the estate's relationship with landscape and heritage. A rotunda lined with floor-to-ceiling wine displays organizes the transition toward the bar, restaurant, private dining room, terrace and lounge.

Across these rooms, a palette of deep red, gold, green and warm sienna is combined with brass, tonal marbles and dark-stained oak. Hand-stitched leather, gilded accents and fluted glass add richness without making the spaces feel ceremonial; the emphasis is on a polished environment that can move from daytime activity to evening dining.

The restaurant is brighter and more open, using planting, patterned flooring, warm timber ceilings and low-level lighting to soften the scale of the room. The bar introduces darker tones and layered metalwork, connecting the hospitality programme through recurring materials rather than identical decoration.

Inside the Manor's main building, the Tack Bar takes a more intimate approach. Vaulted ceilings and limestone walls are paired with burnt-orange embossed leather, Marmore Verde Lapponia marble, orange velvet upholstery and bronze lighting detailed with horsehair. The material language deliberately references the estate's equestrian heritage.

The Wine Cellar is the most atmospheric of the three spaces. Its restored brick-vaulted ceiling frames an 18-metre Stoneycombe pink-marble table, with custom chairs, smoked mirrors and subdued lighting creating a setting for private tastings and dining.
Together, the rooms show David Collins Studio working through continuity rather than imitation. Details from the Manor are reinterpreted in different materials, allowing the new interiors to feel connected to Adare's history while functioning as distinct contemporary hospitality spaces.
