A.W.A.K.E. Mode Enters Spring 2027 After a Major Ownership Shift

A.W.A.K.E. Mode’s Spring 2027 collection arrives after a change in the label’s ownership. Vogue reports that Natalia Alaverdian sold a majority stake to an outside investor in summer 2025, around the period in which she was developing this lineup. The clothes retain a clear visual identity: familiar garments are altered through unusual openings, emphatic proportions and details that refuse to stay in their expected place.

Tailoring With an Unexpected Edge

The lookbook moves between studio photographs and more informal settings, including streets, gardens and interiors. That variety helps make the transformations legible. A cropped jacket can seem relatively straightforward until its lower edge overlaps another panel; a longer sleeve or a displaced layer changes the outline without requiring an entirely unfamiliar garment.

One navy combination concentrates several of those ideas. A small upper jacket frames the chest above a long skirt pierced with large round openings. Extended dark panels fall beside it and end in long fringe. The openings let the body interrupt the solid colour, while the trailing lengths make the outfit look different with every shift in stance.

Discs, Fringe and Negative Space

Circular shapes recur across the photographs. Sometimes they are the material of a skirt or a loose outer layer; elsewhere, the circles are missing, leaving a perforated surface. The difference is important. Added discs can build weight and texture, while cutouts let light pass through a garment that might otherwise seem substantial.

Fringe supplies another kind of motion. It can extend a hem well beyond the opaque part of the garment or turn a simple shape into a much less stable outline. A striped upper layer above a long dark skirt, for example, balances a clear horizontal rhythm with a lower half that moves more freely. The contrast keeps the decoration tied to the whole silhouette.

Everyday Pieces, Reconsidered

Denim gives the collection a useful point of familiarity. Very wide flares extend down from a close waist, making the shift in proportion easy to see. Checked jackets, plain shirts and striped dresses provide other recognisable starting points. A bright yellow garment or a neon openwork layer can then introduce a much stronger interruption.

The styling makes the humour visible without explaining it. A guitar, a board-like object or a deliberately awkward pose changes the relationship between the model and the garment. Some images are composed like fashion portraits; others look closer to small scenes. Throughout, the clothes keep their own construction in view.

The collection’s continuity lies in that method rather than in one repeated look. A jacket, a skirt and a pair of jeans can all become unfamiliar through a single altered edge or an exaggerated scale. Spring 2027 shows how much variation Alaverdian can create while keeping the original garment recognisable.

Collection Lookbook
