Editorial Analysis: Fishing Nets and Tropical Greenery in Trancoso
Vanessa Clemente Carvalho and Tiago Boaventura Lopes celebrated their wedding in Trancoso, Bahia, in a private-home garden. Vic Meirelles developed the decoration as an extension of that setting, using greenery and natural materials so that the event structure felt connected to the existing vegetation rather than artificially separated from it.
The bride and groom sought an intimate, restrained atmosphere despite approximately 150 guests. Overhead fishing nets were suspended and interwoven with leaves, reflecting the groom's connection to fishing. As daylight moved through the structure, the nets and greenery produced a changing visual texture.
This was a particularly effective use of personal meaning in a decorative treatment. The fishing reference was present in the materials themselves, without depending on literal nautical ornaments. The main palette remained predominantly green, allowing the garden and the suspended installation to operate as a continuous composition.
Vic Meirelles is credited for decoration, flowers and decorative objects; Vivi Farah handled planning, with photos and video by SeAmo. The project illustrates a site-sensitive approach to wedding scenography, where materials respond to both the couple's story and the architecture of the location.
Material Detail: A Personal Fishing Reference
The suspended fishing nets in the Trancoso wedding were more than a decorative texture. They referred directly to Tiago's relationship with fishing and changed their appearance as light moved across the garden. Greenery woven through the nets helped unify the aerial installation with the vegetation around the family's outdoor celebration, while the wedding's natural-material palette preserved an intimate feeling. This is the kind of personal detail that makes an environment specific to its hosts rather than a generic tropical wedding design.
Additional Design Detail: Suspended Fishing Nets
The overhead fishing nets were more than a decorative device. They referenced Tiago's personal connection to fishing, while their movement and the changing daylight gave the tropical foliage a living quality. The couple's intention was to make the reception feel like a continuation of the family garden. The images are credited to the SeAmo team, including photographers Douglas and Vanessa.
