About Pronovias

Pronovias is a family business that started life under the name “El Suizo”, a prestigious store in the city of Barcelona. This shop was founded by Alberto Palatchi Bienveniste in 1922, specializing in high quality lace, embroidery and silk fabrics. High society brides in Catalonia ordered their wedding dresses at “El Suizo”. It was in 1964 that the company launched the first ready-to-wear wedding dress collection in Spain, thus creating the St Patrick collection.

In 1698, the first stores specializing in wedding dresses began to appear in Spain. Pronovias stores have become the perfect place for brides to shop for their dresses and accessories. That same year, the Paseo de Gracia store in Barcelona organized the first fashion show for brides. Refined models in alpaca and necklines, and sleeves embellished with lace and gold thread, were a real innovation at the time. Godets with pastel colors and prints appeared on skirts, something unprecedented.

The brand began to expand and stores were opened in Germany, France, United Kingdom and Italy and also in Latin America. Soon after, Pronovias Costura was born, for classic brides. A new store concept was launched in Barcelona, in Via Augusta/Rua Diagonal, where brides found dresses that mixed Prêt à porter with pure handcrafted craftsmanship.

The first collections were launched in conjunction with designers such as Hannibal Laguna, Lidia Delgado and Miguel Palacio. They were followed by names like Emanuel Ungaro, Badgley Mischka, Lorenzo Caprile, Valentino and Elie Saab. In 2008, the six-story flagship store opened in New York at 52St, between 5th Avenue and Madison.

In 2013, the Pronovias Atelier Collection was launched, featuring sumptuous fabrics, silks, incredible lace and hand-sewing work.

Pronovias brought the delicate and princess dresses, full of lace details. For this collection, the dresses appeared “modernized” touches, such as overskirts, ombré sleeves and bolder necklines. The collection also showed classic and plain dresses, bringing the novelty of brocade crepe and drapery. For this purpose, the chosen fabrics were chiffon, organza, silk, gaseous with micro-draping. To provide more support, the brand's novelty is the use of an interior corselet.

The brand also introduced lighter but more sophisticated fabrics, ideal for brides who are going to get married on the beach. The collection also brought many gemstones, which appeared both in small applications and in embroidery all over the body, giving the jewel body effect, luxury and sophistication is in force.

For the more daring brides, some models appeared with generous slits, in addition to fabrics that were more adjusted to the body. The overskirt is also back, which can be removed at the party and gives the air of having two different dresses. In this collection, they are more elaborated than the previous ones, with applications of lace and stones, they are a strong bet of the brand.
