Katy Perry

Katy Perry, born Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson on October 25, 1984, in Santa Barbara, California, grew up in a religious family and began by singing gospel. Her first album, released in 2001 under the name Katy Hudson, had limited distribution but marked the beginning of her search for a distinctive artistic identity.

The pop breakthrough

One of the Boys brought her global recognition in 2008 with I Kissed a Girl and Hot n Cold. Teenage Dream, released in 2010, became one of the decade's defining pop phenomena thanks to an exceptional run of number-one singles including California Gurls, Firework, E.T. and Last Friday Night.

Reinvention and visual identity

Prism extended her success with Roar and Dark Horse. Later periods explored other sounds and personal chapters. Colorful costumes, humor, large-scale staging and instantly recognizable music videos became essential to her universe. Perry also served for several seasons as a judge on American Idol.

She has also supported various philanthropic initiatives. Her official Instagram is @katyperry. Her career combines pop songwriting, visual spectacle and a capacity for reinvention.
