Editorial Analysis: A Pink-and-White Tropical Ceremony in Bal Harbour
At St. Regis Bal Harbour in Miami, José Graterol Designs created a tropical garden wedding with a distinctive pink-and-white floral arch. The bride's request for those colors established the ceremonial focal point, while white planters filled with tropical foliage lined the aisle.
The wider decorative palette combined white flowers and vivid greenery, emphasizing the tropical character of the location. Rather than limiting leaves to the arrangements, the studio incorporated botanical forms into custom reception elements, including the dance-floor design. This approach gave the space a more immersive identity than centerpieces alone.
The project illustrates the potential of using a strong ceremonial feature as the beginning of a wider visual language. The arch created a recognizable entrance moment, while repeated tropical details helped link the ceremony and reception. The design depended on contrasting flower forms and lush foliage rather than a large range of colors.
José Graterol Designs is credited for event, production and floral design, Keely Thorne Events for planning and J. Cogliandro Photography for the images. The project brings planning, floral installation and event production into a cohesive visual environment.
Design Detail: A Continuous Tropical Palette
The relationship between the ceremonial arch and the aisle planters creates visual continuity: pink and white flowers establish the principal accent while green foliage links the setting to the tropical character of Bal Harbour. These elements give the event a cohesive atmosphere across the guest's approach and the ceremony itself, with different scales serving different moments.
