Art Basel Miami Beach 2026: A Visitor’s Guide to the Fair and the Wider Week
Art Basel Miami Beach returns on 4–6 December 2026. For anyone planning a first visit, the essential distinction is between the fair itself and Miami Art Week, the broader calendar of exhibitions and events around it. They overlap, but they are not a single venue or an all-access ticket.
Start with the correct dates and access
Art Basel’s announced public programme at the Miami Beach Convention Center runs from 4 to 6 December, with public opening hours listed as 11am–6pm. Its 2–3 December preview days are invitation-only. Plan around the access you actually hold rather than treating a preview date as a normal public opening.

The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau dates Miami Art Week to 30 November–6 December 2026. Its calendar lists separate fairs across different dates and locations, including NADA Miami, Art Miami, Untitled Art and Design Miami. That wider week can inform a longer trip, but admission arrangements still need to be checked with each organiser.
Expect a changed route through the main fair
For 2026, Art Basel has announced a redesigned showfloor with four hospitality plazas and major galleries distributed more widely. Its sectors offer different approaches: Nova focuses on recent work, Positions on emerging artists’ solo projects and Survey on historical presentations. Zero 10 also returns with Generation, a presentation of art engaging with digital technologies.
Treat that structure as a way to set priorities rather than a checklist to complete. If you are drawn to historical rediscoveries, leave room for Survey. If a single artist’s work helps you look more closely, a solo presentation may be a more satisfying starting point than trying to absorb every booth at the same pace.
Separate the fair day from the wider city
A practical itinerary begins with a small number of anchors. Give the Convention Center its own block of time, then choose another exhibition or fair only after checking its address and opening hours. Do not assume that an event marketed as part of the art week is next door to Art Basel.
The visitor bureau’s calendar is useful for comparing dates, but a listing is not a reservation. Keep a separate note of each venue, admission confirmation and any timed-entry condition. Before paying for travel, verify the details that determine the trip: the date you can enter, the event you are buying access to and the terms attached to that purchase.
Leave space to look
The most useful preparation may be deciding what not to schedule. Choose a few galleries, artists or themes to seek out, then allow time for work that was not on your list. A fair can reward a second look at one presentation more than a hurried circuit of everything.
This preview reflects official information checked on 22 October 2026. The December fair has not yet taken place, and programme details may change. Recheck Art Basel and the individual venues before making final plans; an announced programme is an invitation to plan, not a review of an experience already delivered.
