About Oscar de La Renta
Óscar Arístides Ortiz de la Renta Fiallo, known as Oscar de la Renta (Santo Domingo, July 22, 1932 – October 21, 2014), was a Dominican naturalized American fashion designer and stylist.
Son of a Dominican mother and a Puerto Rican father, at the age of eighteen he moved to Spain. He has worked in several fashion houses such as Cristóbal Balenciaga, Antonio Castillo and Elizabeth Arden. In Madrid he began his studies to become a painter, but soon changed his career path and became a stylist, gaining fame when a creative dress of his was worn by the daughter of the US ambassador and appeared on the cover of Life magazine.
Oscar de La Renta died on October 21, 2014, at the age of 82.

The last bride to wear a wedding look signed by Oscar de La Renta was Amal Alamuddin, when she said “yes” to George Clooney on September 27, 2016. The look would already be the last of her career, which she intended to retire after.
