The Weeknd

Abel Tesfaye, connu sous le nom de The Weeknd, naît à Toronto en 1990 et attire l’attention au début des années 2010 avec des titres publiés en ligne dans un relatif anonymat. House of Balloons, Thursday et Echoes of Silence installent un mélange sombre de R&B, d’électronique et de pop qui influencera largement la décennie.

Du R&B alternatif à la pop mondiale

Beauty Behind the Madness impose Can’t Feel My Face et The Hills, Starboy élargit encore son public et After Hours associe Blinding Lights à une esthétique cinématographique très forte. Dawn FM prolonge cette logique conceptuelle avec synth-pop et références aux années 1980.

Clips, performances et identité visuelle sont devenus indissociables de sa musique. Son influence vient de sa capacité à réunir vulnérabilité, production électronique et ambition pop à grande échelle.
