Un niño prodigio de Salzburgo

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart nació en Salzburgo en 1756 en una familia de músicos. Su padre Leopold reconoció pronto su talento excepcional y formó tanto a Wolfgang como a su hermana Nannerl, también una música destacada.

Del niño viajero al compositor independiente

De niño viajó por Europa y actuó en cortes y salas de concierto. Con la edad, el prodigio se convirtió en un compositor independiente que buscaba mayor libertad artística.

Viena y las grandes óperas

En 1781 se instaló en Viena y trabajó en gran medida como músico independiente. Allí creó obras centrales como Las bodas de Fígaro, Don Giovanni y La flauta mágica.

Mozart se casó con Constanze Weber y, pese a obtener ingresos importantes en ciertos periodos, vivió etapas de inestabilidad económica ligadas al mercado musical independiente.

Una muerte temprana de causa incierta

Murió el 5 de diciembre de 1791 a los 35 años. La causa médica exacta no puede establecerse con certeza hoy; las leyendas posteriores sobre un envenenamiento no están demostradas.
