A Deep Dive Into Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin's Stunning Wedding Ceremony

It all began when Justin proposed to Hailey during a trip to the Bahamas in July 2018. The proposal took place over dinner at the hotel where they were staying. Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin were dancing together when the pop star got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Hailey, visibly moved, accepted immediately. The following day, the singer publicly declared his love for the model on Instagram.
With just under two months to go before the wedding, the Biebers sent guests a lively, creative save-the-date. The illustration showed the couple together and included only a small amount of information about the celebration.
Hailey and Bieber had already made their civil union official in a private courthouse ceremony the previous year. Anticipation was therefore high for the religious wedding, when friends and family would finally see Hailey as a bride.
The night before the wedding, the couple gathered their closest relatives and friends for a pre-wedding evening and, according to the Daily Mail, screened their favorite film, «The Notebook». They also organized games, a party and bowling, while guests enjoyed ice cream and sweets.
The wedding that generated so much attention on social media took place on Monday, September 30, 2019, at Montage Palmetto Bluff in South Carolina, United States. The property is known for hosting large weddings and features wooded grounds surrounding a vast lake. One of its best-known spaces is Somerset Chapel, where the couple exchanged vows at sunset. Reports at the time said the hotel notified guests who were not attending the Bieber wedding that the spa, pool and one restaurant would be unavailable for 48 hours.
The Sun reported that cocktails were served after the ceremony, before the formal reception and dinner in the Wilson Ballroom.
Guests included Kendall Jenner, a close friend of the couple, Kylie Jenner, Travis Scott, Usher, Ed Sheeran and Jaden Smith. Around 150 people attended. Bieber’s former girlfriend Caitlin Beadles was also among the guests.
For the pre-wedding dinner, Hailey wore a short white off-the-shoulder Vivienne Westwood dress with Jimmy Choo sandals. Westwood explained that the dress was made from organically produced, environmentally conscious and cruelty-free peace silk. For the wedding itself, Hailey chose an Off-White gown designed by Virgil Abloh, a friend of the bride. The mermaid silhouette featured an off-the-shoulder neckline, long sleeves, lace appliqués, tiny pearls and a long train. Her veil carried the phrase «Until death do us part» along the hem. She also wore five-carat diamond earrings and an 18-carat band set with Tiffany Soleste diamonds.
Bieber wore an 18-carat gold Tiffany Classic wedding band.
Another small luxury detail was a bottle of Moët & Chandon champagne personalized for the wedding with the date of the couple’s union.
Singer Daniel Caesar provided music during the celebrations.
A particularly personal detail appeared in the documentary series «Justin Bieber: Seasons»: the singer said he was so nervous that he stumbled over his words while confirming his vows. Even someone accustomed to the spotlight can still feel nervous on a day like this.
