John Legend

John Legend wurde am 28. Dezember 1978 als John Roger Stephens in Springfield, Ohio, geboren. Kirchenmusik prägte seine Kindheit, und früh entwickelte er Fähigkeiten am Klavier, im Gesang und im Songwriting. Nach der Universität arbeitete er zunächst als Musiker und Sänger für andere Künstler.

Get Lifted und der Durchbruch

Im Umfeld der frühen GOOD Music von Kanye West veröffentlichte Legend 2004 Get Lifted. Ordinary People verband klassisches Soulgefühl, R&B und Klavier. Spätere Alben erweiterten seinen Stil; All of Me wurde zu einer seiner international bekanntesten Balladen.

EGOT und gesellschaftliches Engagement

Legend gehört zu den wenigen Künstlern mit Emmy, Grammy, Oscar und Tony. Fernsehen und Produktion erweiterten seine Laufbahn. Gleichzeitig engagierte er sich für Bildung, Reformen im Justizsystem und Maßnahmen gegen Armut.
